An Introduction to the Cause

What is Foundations for learning?

Foundations For Learning is a non-profit charity organization created by five Brigham Young University students. The projects that Foundations For Learning works to achieve are facilitated by an organization called “Room to Read.” Room to Read partners with local communities all over the developing world to bestow opportunities, specifically in the direction of children and youth, by building and establishing libraries, schools, and implementing educational programs. Foundations For Learning, for the year 2009-2010, has chosen to raise money to build a library in Sri Lanka (expected to be completed by the summer of 2010).

Where is Sri Lanka?

Sri Lanka is an island country in South Asia, located about 20 miles off of the southern coast of India. It has a total population of about 20 million, and has been a major religious center for many Buddhists.

How much money do we need to raise?

The estimated INITIAL goal for this project is: $25-30,000.

If I tell people about this organization and they want to help/support the cause, where do I refer them to for more information?

In the following weeks we will have our own website as well as this blog with all the information that you will need to pass along to these individuals. Along with both of these things, personal e-mails from your team leaders will be sent to you with specific information and instructions.
